About Carla's Team

I grew up in a family of real estate professionals in Wilmington, North Carolina and have spent most of my life "at the beach".  My career began twenty-some years ago after moving to Raleigh as a Real Estate Appraiser and eventually expanded into sales.  Or, maybe you could say that I really started in real estate back when I was less than four feet tall when I measured and inspected properties with my dad, who was an Appraiser and Realtor also.  I am currently a licensed NC Real Estate Broker and a NC State Certified Residential Real Estate Appraiser.  I am also a Graduate of the Realtor Institute (GRI) and a Certified Distressed Property Expert (CDPE). 

Trafton has a background in the construction business, real estate appraisals, and has always enjoyed development and investment real estate. He began appraising homes in Raleigh, NC in 1997 and is a NC State Certified Residential Real Estate Appraiser. Trafton is also a NC Real Estate Broker and holds his SFR designation (Short Sale & Foreclosure) to better serve property owners in distress as well as banks that may need to dispose of REO properties. 

The Outer Banks real estate market has been active concerning "Distressed Properties" since our peak in pricing around 2005.  Short Sale listings have been on the rise and Foreclosure Sales (a.k.a. REO Property) have not been uncommon, though we are starting to see fewer REO listings as of late.  Many non-distressed sellers also offer realistically priced properties in turn-key condition that should not be overlooked as well.  We have experience working with Sellers of Short Sales, as well as banks and asset managers to list and sell all types of Outer Banks properties.  Buyers certainly benefit from working with an agent familiar with these transactions when acquiring distressed properties as well. 

In 2008, I was chosen as an HGTV Real Estate Expert for two episodes of "My House is Worth What" which featured properties in Avon and Buxton.  "House Hunters" is also very interested in coming to the Outer Banks so let me know if you have interest in being featured on HGTV.  The national exposure from "My House is Worth What" was great for Hatteras Island and it inspired me to also be the first Realtor locally to feature properties on my own real estate show which airs several times a day during the season on Outer Banks Channel 12 TV.  "Carla's Coast" TV show provides the premier platform for marketing properties on Hatteras Island and it exposes available properties to thousands of visitors on our island each year.  In addition, there is further exposure through YouTube and other internet sites.  You can view one of the latest versions of "Carla's Coast" on our blog site found at www.CapeHatterasProperties.com under the Marketing tab or search for CarlasCoastOBX channel on YouTube.
